Last Friday’s US payroll figures have sent the likelihood of a June rate hike by the Fed pretty well back to zero.  But as ever, we can’t hope to understand the implications of one piece of data by looking at it in isolation. Might that data simply have been a statistical anomaly? The laws of probability would suggest the odds are it is. To find a meaningful answer we need to support probability with more information and once we do that, a lone low number may not be as troubling. …
