JSS Sustainable Bond - Global High Yield Investor Update

Last year was one of the worst in the history of bond markets in terms of performance. The good news is that we are going through the Bond Renaissance. Now, interest rates are back and negative yields have effectively disappeared. High Yield bonds performed remarkably well on a relative basis, especially considering that high yield indices outperform investment grade and government bond indices. This is explained by the high and recurring coupon payments plus the relatively shorter duration.

Nevertheless tensions remain in the financial markets and sentiment keeps changing rapidly. Now is the time to be cautious and have a defensive positioning. Our strategy combines our traditional fundamental credit analysis with our ESG investing approach which helps in mitigating risks that are typically underestimated.
