The developments in China are of crucial importance for the global economy and capital markets. After the conclusion of the 20th Chinese Communist Party National Congress, the makeup of the leadership will determine the development of China in the coming years.

In the short term, the Chinese economy is struggling with the fallout of the ongoing reshaping of its property sector and its zero-Covid policy approach. Increased tensions surrounding the status of Taiwan and increased frictions between the US and China are straining investor sentiment for Chinese assets.

Nevertheless, not everything is negative, and we are looking to provide a balanced view on China.

Chris Kushlis, Chief of China & Emerging Markets Macro Strategy and Michael Ganske, Portfolio Specialist for EM Debt, will share their views and interpretation of the Congress outcomes, and give their understanding of what this could mean for investors in 2023 and beyond.
